After reading our blogs featuring the various web design projects we’ve crafted for our clients, Roberto Rashid reached out to the team at Aliya Hammond Consulting for help with developing his own website and newfound social media presence. This creative artisan decided to leave semi-retirement to start a second career, this time as an entrepreneur. His MBE, Scarves by Rashid, was inspired by fond childhood memories of his mother and the sound of her industrial sewing machine.
Growing up in the 1960s, Roberto Rashid helped out at the quilting company where his mother was employed, and at a young age, he learned the joy of pinning layers of fabric together on a large cutting table. As a young adult, he enrolled in West Philadelphia’s Adult Evening School for Tailoring, and then the former Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science, to hone his skills and acquire professional knowledge. Today, Mr. Rashid is finally realizing his dream and utilizing his talents in the next phase of his life as an accessory and scarf designer. His “Limited Edition” collections are diligently and lovingly made on-site in his Philadelphia studio with unique fabrics from around the world.

Throughout the spring, summer, and fall, this remarkable entrepreneur took all types of classes and training sessions to get himself up to speed on how to market and sell his products online.
