With Black History month coming to a close and Women’s History Month just on the horizon, we would like to take a moment to celebrate and recognize the remarkable female entrepreneurs and minority-owned businesses in our country. As a digital marketing, training, and consulting company and member of this valuable cohort, we have helped others to develop sound social media strategies and manage their online presence for over a decade. With that said, let us introduce you to two amazing organizations that provide certification, tools, and networking opportunities to help others achieve success and reach their potential just as we have.

Eastern Minority Supplier Development Council

As one of 23 regional councils across the country with more than 1,750 corporate members, the Eastern Minority Supplier Development Council (EMSDC) certifies and connects minority-owned businesses throughout Pennsylvania, Southern New Jersey, and Delaware with member corporations in order to stimulate and support economic development. With 50 years of experience as an industry expert in Minority-owned Business Enterprise (MBE) enrichment, development, and impact, EMSDC offers certified minority suppliers valuable resources for growth. Here is a small sample:

  • EMSDC provides national recognition and valuable resources, such as access to seminars hosted by leading corporations, networking events, award opportunities, professional development programs and workshops, and listing in the NMSDC supplier database, which is accessible by corporate buyers nationwide.
  • EMSDC also offers focused initiatives designed to support the growth of companies within specific industry sectors. Corporate Membership opportunities provide unique benefits, including Supplier Diversity Program development support, MBE referrals and/or introductions, access to networking opportunities, and assistance in RFP/bid distribution.

Women’s Business Enterprise Center-East

As an advocate for women business owners and entrepreneurs in Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Southern New Jersey, Women’s Business Enterprise Center-East (WBEC-East) believes that diversity promotes innovation, opens doors, and creates partnerships that fuel the economy. Certifying women-owned businesses is the foundation of the WBEC-East mission, along with connecting WBENC-Certified Women’s Business Enterprises (WBEs) with Corporate Members to facilitate real-time business opportunities. Whether you are looking to start a business or want to see your existing business flourish and soar to new heights, here are just a few of the benefits offered through WBEC-East:

  • WBEC-East provides training courses, informational programs, and services that foster growth and opportunities between certified women’s business enterprises (WBEs) and purchasing entities. Funding for many of these Start-Up programs, such as Entrepreneurial Training and the Business Finance Program, comes from a partnership with the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Office of Women Business Ownership.
  • As a regional partner of the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council, they also facilitate WBENC Certification, which validates that a business is at least 51 percent owned, controlled, operated and managed by a woman or women. This world-class certification is extremely beneficial to businesses looking to work with large corporations and government agencies. In fact, many of these national entities require that you be WBENC-certified before providing access to their supplier diversity programs.
  • Once certified, your business profile will be listed in an internet database that is accessed by hundreds of corporations throughout the United States seeking to work with diverse, women-owned businesses. You will also be eligible to participate in national and local networking events, matchmaker meetings, and trade shows with other WBEs and corporate and government buyers.
