For over a decade, the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program has helped provide entrepreneurs with the tools, opportunities, and skills needed to grow small businesses. Equipped with a practical business education, expanded access to capital, and a strong network of support, graduates of the program are “creating jobs and supporting their local communities across the United States” and beyond, while seeing revenue growth.

10,000 Strong
Alumni of the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program represent a diverse, tight-knit community spanning a wide variety of industries. Throughout the program, “participants can learn from other small business owners, receive expert advice from business professionals, get one-on-one business advising, and join a national network of entrepreneurs following graduation.”
Focused on growth, this 12-week program is available at no cost to small businesses in every state and US territory, as well as internationally. Delivered in partnership with academic institutions across the country, primarily community colleges, “participants develop an actionable growth plan for their business with the help of advisors and a network of like-minded entrepreneurs.”
To quote Zakiyyah Boone, CEO of Wonderspring Early Education and another alumnus of the program, “10KSB really helped grow me as a leader by giving me a road map to evaluate growth opportunities for my business, no matter what they may be. I formed a life-long support system with my growth group and gained tools and experience I can use and pay forward. What an amazing experience!”
How It Works
The Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses Program seeks applicants who are passionate about growing their business and creating jobs in their communities. Here is a general list of criteria:
- Small business owner or small business co-owner
- Business in operation for at least two years
- Business revenues over $75,000 in the most recent fiscal year
- Business with a minimum of two employees (including the owner)
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis by region. If you’re not close to a designated region, you can apply to the National Cohort. Once submitted, you can expect to receive follow-up emails with your application status, the class/cohort for which you are being considered, and whether or not you have advanced as a finalist to the interview round.
Business owners accepted into the 10,000 Small Businesses program are asked to invest their time to engage in the following:
- Attend a program orientation
- Complete 11 convenient learning sessions
- Participate in out-of-class activities, including completing assignments, attending networking events and business support clinics (approx. 8 – 10 hours per week)
- Create a business growth plan over the course of the program
