If you follow our blog, you already know that web design and development is one of our most popular services. Maurice Waters subscribed to our email list and peeked at some of the other websites we’ve put together. Long story short, he liked what he saw. After discussing his vision for the new site, and with a focus on the theme and target audience, we set to work on improving the Black Sci-Fi experience for visitors.
All About The Content
The content found on the Black Sci-Fi website is unique in that each category highlights the role of African Americans in science fiction, including news, reviews, opinion pieces, an online bookstore, and sections specifically for gaming and STEM. In addition, there are tabs for Black Sci-Fi TV, the Black Sci-Fi Convention, and a page called “On The Blerdar.” Guests can even shop for custom merchandise!
Making Time Travel Possible
Like we said, content itself is a big part of Black Sci-Fi and therefore an important component in this website development project. Another addition on the site is a related posts feature that allows for categorizing and a deep dive into the content. Like time travel, this set up fine tunes the content so that articles written in the past that pertain to current pieces get pulled from the depths.
For example, if a visitor is reading something about Black Panther, they can easily follow or find more information about that topic. This helps to keep people on the site longer when they go to an article they like, and it also exposes them to more content that would otherwise be lost in space and time.
Into The Multiverse
Okay, while it’s not exactly the Multiverse, Black Sci-Fi does have multiple authors. Each has their own page, and it shows how many articles each has published. In other words, visitors to the site can click on the particular author and it will show every article they’ve written. In an effort to help guests stay up to date on the latest news, there are also handy tabs to explore favorite topics or sign up for an email subscription, and social media icons that make it easy to stay in the know.
