In Building Your Brand Online: A Guide To Crafting A Strong Digital Presence Part 1,” we talked about how to define your personal brand, how to optimize your social media presence, and the importance of having a professional logo, headshot, and website. At Aliya Hammond Consulting, we understand how important it is to connect with your target audiences through the various social media networks available. We also understand that marketing a business can be overwhelming, and successfully building your brand online requires time, skills, and in-depth knowledge. Thankfully, we’re here to help! Here are a few more tips on building your brand online.

Define Your Message and Tone

You may have noticed a recurring theme in Part 1 of our “Guide To Crafting A Strong Digital Presence.” Consistency is key! Just like your personal brand, graphic elements, and website, be consistent with your voice and message, including blogs and posts on social media platforms. Decide on what your tone is going to be, whether it’s light hearted and fun, serious, or maybe something in between. Either way, it needs to be an authentic and consistent reflection of you and your business. And remember, people want to share and engage with content that provides value!

Engage with Your Audience

If you want people to engage with your content on social media, you need to engage with their content too. Responding to messages and adding comments can be mutually beneficial! Not only does it help to establish relationships with your existing audience by showcasing your expertise and solving pain points, but it will also help to expand your reach and visibility outside of your network (i.e. people who might not see your content otherwise). It can also connect you with industry professionals, influencers, and thought leaders in your field!

Monitor Your Online Presence

Crafting a strong digital presence has many steps, including monitoring what other people are saying about you. This information can be invaluable in tracking your progress, sharing positive publicity, and quickly addressing any problem areas or issues that might arise. Setting up Google Alerts to help monitor mentions about you in the media is a good place to start. Here are two things to watch out for:

  • Are you being tagged or mentioned on social media?
  • Are there any articles written about you?

Like we mentioned in Part 1 of “Building Your Brand Online: A Guide To Crafting A Strong Digital Presence,” this is just the tip of the iceberg. If you want to gain a better understanding of the skills, tools, and techniques needed to develop and implement your own social media strategy, consider Social Media Coaching for Executives, one of the many services offered by Aliya Hammond Consulting.
