Nicole Martin Lawton, Esq., MPH is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Phoenix Language Services, Inc., a full-service language access company and certified, woman-owned, minority-owned business. After practicing health law as a partner at a Philadelphia-headquartered law firm that ranks among the top 100 in the country, Nicole channeled her passion and experience into providing comprehensive language access services for limited-English proficient and deaf and hard of hearing individuals across several industries. In an effort to improve the online presence of a company started by her father decades earlier, and to better connect with her own target audience, Nicole recently reached out to Aliya Hammond Consulting for help. A Friendship Takes Flight
Since 1993, Phoenix Language Services has been providing professionally trained interpreters and translators for clients in a wide variety of settings, including legal, corporate, education, healthcare, government, and social service industries. But by 2021, it was time for a social media boost. According to Aliya, “Nicole and I first met through an event I did for ISM-Philadelphia’s Virtual Supplier Diversity Summit. I was one of the keynote speakers on social media strategy.” After reconnecting through WBEC (where they were paired up for social media coaching sessions) a great friendship began to develop and take flight.
Serving Others Through Social Media
This past year, Aliya Hammond Consulting has provided social media coaching, a new logo design, and website development for Nicole and Phoenix Language Services. Before working with us, Nicole admits that she did not have a social media strategy in place, outside of updating her LinkedIn profile. But times have changed. Nicole is now connecting with others on LinkedIn and Facebook and is seeking speaking engagement opportunities. In fact, she served as one of three panelists for The Forum of Executive Women this month and will be a NAWBO Power Friday speaker on January 28, 2022. Thanks to Aliya, “I’ve begun to become more engaged in this new professional world since transitioning from the legal profession,” notes Nicole. “I’ve gotten a great deal of positive exposure, I’ve landed two speaking engagements and it’s working!”
Interpreting A Bright Future
Through coaching, and being more active on social media, Nicole is becoming known as a leader in her industry. When asked to tell us her favorite social media network, she singles out LinkedIn as a great professional platform for B2B marketing and making connections with her target audience. But the most valuable lesson Nicole has learned from participating in our coaching sessions is to stop holding herself back and to be more engaged in her online presence. Going forward, Nicole says that her goal is to “be authentic” and to “show the world what I can contribute and what my business can do for clients and prospective clients.” And with a clear focus and sound social media strategy, we know she will have continued success!
