The Community College of Philadelphia’s Power Up Your Business Program
Power Up Your Business is a “free, neighborhood-based approach to support small business owners in Philadelphia.” This innovative program is offered by the Community College of Philadelphia (CCP) with tools to help local businesses thrive. Options include the Store Owner Series, Industry Best Practices, and an in-depth Peer-Based Learning Experience, with workshops, courses, and expert coaching support. Temple’s Small Business Development Center
Temple University’s Small Business Development Center has been serving Philadelphia-area small businesses for almost 40 years. Its mission is to “provide entrepreneurs and small business owners with the knowledge they need to make smart decisions and prosper.” Temple’s Small Business Development Center hosts training events and webinars and offers business services and solutions at no cost. SCORE
SCORE mentors offer expert advice for anyone looking to start or grow a small business. This national organization matches entrepreneurs with a mentor based on location, and there are many chapters across the state of Pennsylvania to choose from, including Philadelphia and surrounding areas. SCORE also offers free local workshops, webinars, and courses on demand, as well as an online small business webinar library filled with helpful information and training resources. Lancaster Avenue 21
The Lancaster Avenue 21st Century Business Association (LA21) is a non-profit public organization that serves the Lancaster Avenue corridor of West Philadelphia. If you are in the beginning stages of starting a business in this community, LA21 provides “the training, resources, and environment to help new and established businesses address the difficulties of starting, maintaining, and navigating the necessary changes needed to foster successful business growth and economic betterment.” LA21 offers professional enrichment programs for members, with a focus on cost-efficient ways to run and develop a small business.
