In our recent blog titled, “LinkedIn Changes & How to Grow a Powerful and Engaged Network,” we invited you to join Aliya Hammond, social media strategist, coach, and speaker, for a virtual training session hosted by SCORE Bucks County. While this highly-informative free event will be held on September 26, 2023, did you know that Aliya has collaborated with SCORE Bucks County to cover other social media topics, including Pinterest for Beginners this past August? And believe us when we say this topic generated a lot of buzz! After all, Pinterest has nearly 450 million monthly active users and is one of the most unique social media platforms out there. If you missed out on the webinar, here are a few helpful takeaways and answers to the most pressing questions from our post-event chat report.

How do I upload content?

Pinterest is a visual discovery engine for finding and sharing ideas like recipes, home and style inspiration, products, and more. After you get an account, content, also known as pins, can be uploaded via computer or mobile device. Detailed instructions on how to do that can be found here.

How do I delete boards?

On Pinterest, pins live in neatly organized boards, so content has a longer shelf life than it would on other social media platforms. Boards that are no longer evergreen can be archived, but deleting one entirely (with all its pins) from the platform can be done in a few simple clicks, as explained here

Does this mean I don’t need to post as frequently as other social media platforms?

Pretty much! According to the platform, “Quality and relevance matter more than frequency on Pinterest. So while you can determine the best schedule for you, posting on a weekly basis is a good rule of thumb. Because content is evergreen, your hard work works harder, and people will keep seeing your ideas over time.”

How do you sell on Pinterest?

Pinterest offers shoppable pins with a search tab for finding products, allowing people to actively make purchases on the site. But to sell, you will need to set up a Pinterest business account and online store. Here is a step-by-step guide for selling on Pinterest from The Ascent. Pinterest also has a Lens feature that lets people discover ideas and products inspired by anything they point their Pinterest camera at, so be sure to use quality images!

Can pinning help with SEO?

Pinterest notes that it “prioritizes content with high signals of meaningful engagement. And the strongest metric to measure how people are engaging with a pin—and how an idea is resonating with people—is saves.” Utilizing hashtags makes it easy for pinners to find and save your content, and a focus on SEO and quality keywords can extend your reach to increase sales. Can I schedule pins on Pinterest for future posting?

Yes, with a business account, you can schedule a total of ten pins up to a month in advance. Simply select the “publish at a later date” option, and designate the day and time you want your pin to publish. For more information on how to schedule pins, as well as how to change or delete them, click here. For added convenience, Pinterest also includes rich pins that update automatically to reflect any edits that you make to your site. More info on that can be found here
